자폐성 장애 아동 아버지의 양육 경험과 적응에 관한 현상학적 연구

초록

장애 아동의 양육에 아버지가 참여할 때 얻을 수 있는 장점이 많다는 것은 이미 여러 연구들을 통해 잘 알려져 있다. 그러나 장애를 가진 아동의 양육에 관해 어머니와 관련된 연구는 많지만 자폐성 장애 아동 아버지의 양육에 대한 연구는 부족한 편이며 자폐성 장애 아동의 아버지를 대상으로 한 연구는 더욱더 부족한 실정이다. 본 연구는 자폐성 장애로 진단받은 아동의 아버지의 양육 경험을 질적으로 분석함으로써 아버지의 양육 경험의 본질적인 의미와 그들이 자녀의 양육에 적응해 나가는 과정을 이해하고자 한다. 본 연구를 위해 D시에 위치한 초등학교에 재학 중이며 자폐성 장애로 진단받은 아동의 아버지 5명을 대상으로 심층면담을 실시하였다. 면담의 내용은 전사한 후 Giorgi의 분석방법을 사용하였다. 그 결과 4개의 구성요소와 12개의 하위 구성요소가 도출되었다. 아버지들의 양육 경험의 의미와 적응과정은 망연자실, 좌충우돌, 적막강산, 동병상련의 4가지 구성요소로 분류되었으며 상황적 구조기술을 통해 구체적인 내용이 제시되었다. 양육경험의 일반적 구조기술은 양육의 적응과정을 중심으로 격동, 시행착오, 회복의 3단계로 나누어 도식화하였다.

Abstract

Recently fathers have played a greater role in parenting, and fathers of children with autism spectrum disorder(ASD) are no exception. Nevertheless, researches about parenting are very scarce. This phenomenological study examined the parenting experiences and the process of parenting adjustment of fathers of son with ASD who were in grade 1～3 of an elementary school. The purpose of the study was to gain insight into the essences of fathers’ experiences. Qualitative data were gathered with interviews. They were transcribed and analyzed by the phenomenological method of Giorgi. The materials classified 4 categories and 12 sub-themes. The results of this study as follows: the situated structural description was identified that stupefaction, dash this way and rush that, disconsolation, and compassion. The general structural description consisted of 3 steps which were orgenaized with turbuence, trial and error, recovery.
