당식 대장식구는 당과 신라의 멸망 이후 형식은 변화하였으나, 기본적인 대장식구의 구성, 관인의신분을 상징하는 측면에서는 고려 역시 동일한 성격을 유지하며 계승된다. 고려 대장식구의 연구사를 살펴보아도 이러한 인식에 크게 이견은 없다. 다만 고려 대장식구의 독자성과 특수성에 주목하다보니 신라 말~고려 전기 대장식구의 과도적 양상과 관련하여 계기적 변천과정에 대한 이해는 소략하거나 유기적으로 이어지지 못한 한계가 있었다. 이를 염두에 두고 검토한 결과 신라 말~고려 전기에는 당식 대장식구 제3단계인 퇴조기의 대장식구가 확산되는 와중에 고려의 건국과 광종대 중앙 공복 개정을 거치며 고려 대장식구로 정착되는양상을 파악할 수 있었다. 이를 환치하면 퇴조기의 비정형적인 당식 대장식구의 외형적 기조가 잔존하는 와중에 중국 後周를 위시한 五代·契丹의 대장식구 모티브가 고려로 이입되면서 성립된 것으로 볼 수 있다. 결국 고려의 대장식구는 당식 대장식구의 구성을 기조로 하면서 당 멸망 이후 중국 왕조와의 문화교류 속에서 고려의 체제 정비과정으로 나타난 산물임과 동시에 관인의 신분을 표상하는 대장식구문화의 변화와 연속을 엿볼 수 있다는 점에서 그 의미가 작지 않다.
Abstract
The Tang-style metal belt changed in terms of its form after the fall of the Tang Dynasty and the Silla Dynasty but it was maintained and inherited by the Goryeo Dynasty in terms of characteristics like the basic composition of the metal belt and its symbol of the status of an official. There is not much disagreement about this understanding in the history of the Goryeo metal belt. Nonetheless, due to the focus on the originality and distinctiveness of the Goryeo metal belt, there is a limitation in that an understanding of the facilitative transition process with respect to the transitional appearance of the metal belt during the late Silla Dynasty and early Goryeo Dynasty is either omitted or disconnected. An examination with this in mind shows that, during the the late Silla Dynasty and the early Goryeo Dynasty, amid the spread of metal belts in the third stage (which is the stage of decline), metal belts were involved with the Goryeo metal belts as they underwent the founding of the Goryeo Dynasty and King Gwangjong’ s centralized revision of official uniforms. In other words, while the outward appearance of the Tang-style metal belt, which is atypical of the decline stage, remained, the motif of metal belts from Wudai, Khitan that emulated Houzhou was imported into Goryeo, establishing the Goryeo metal belts. Ultimately, the Goryeo metal belt is based on a Tang-style metal belt and is a product of the process of the formation of Goryeo amid cultural exchanges with Chinese kingdoms after the fall of the Tang Dynasty. At the same time, it is meaningful in that the Goryeo metal belt reveals the changes and continuations of metal belt traditions, which symbolize the status of officials.
