범죄두려움과 자기보호행동의 관계에 관한 위험해석모델의 재검토

최근 범죄두려움 관련 연구가 형사사법 영역에서 중요한 연구주제로 자리매김하였다. 그러나 대다수의 연구가 범죄두려움의 영향요인을 확인하고자 한 것이었고, 범죄두려움의 결과로 나타나는 현상에 대한 관심은 상대적으로 적었다. 이에 이 연구에서는 범죄두려움의 결과로 나타나는 현상으로 자기보호행동의 개념에 주목하고, Ferraro(1995)의 위험해석모델을 재검토하고자 하였다. Ferraro(1995)의 위험해석모델은 기존의 범죄두려움 개념을 범죄두려움과 위험인지, 그리고 행태적 적응이라는 개념으로 분화시켰다는 점에서 의의가 크다. 그런데, 이 모델에서는 행태적 적응을 범죄두려움의 원인으로 이해하고 있어, 논쟁의 여지를 두고 있다. 이 연구는 이 문제에 대해 범죄두려움과 행태적 적응으로서 자기보호행동의 선후관계를 확인하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국형사정책연구원이 수집한 2012년 범죄피해조사 자료로 구조방정식모형 분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과, 자기보호행동과 범죄두려움은 쌍방향적 인과관계, 즉 재귀적 관계가 있음을 확인하였다. 또, Ferraro(1995)의 모델과 달리 무질서는 위험인식과 범죄두려움에만, 사회응집은 위험인식에만 정(+)적 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 한편, 위험해석모델의 가설과 같이 위험인식은 범죄두려움과 자기보호행동 모두에 정(+)적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 연구결과는 위험해석모델을 통해 자기보호행동이 범죄두려움의 원인이자 결과로서 역할을 할 수 있음을 제시하여, 추후 범죄두려움에 대한 연구영역을 확장시켰다는 점에서 의의를 찾을 수 있다.
Abstract
The Studies related to the fear of crime in criminal justice is an important topic of research in Korea. However, the majority of the studies were interest in the influences of the fear of crime in the mainstream as a result of the fear of crime, Attention to the phenomenon that appears as a result of fear crime was less relatively. So, this study focuses on the concept of self-protection behavior as a phenomenon that can be the result of fear of crime, and willing to review the Ferraro(1995)’s risk interpretation model. Risk interpretation model of Ferraro(1995) is significant in that it subdivides the traditional concept of fear of crime(or worry about crime) into fear of crime, perceived risk, and behavioral adaptation. However, this model has got to understand the causes of behavioral adaptation to the fear of crime, it is debatable. This study was conducted to determine the sequencing relation between fear of crime and behavioral adaptation(ie self-protection behavior). And it was conducted structural equation model analysis utilizing the 「2012 Korean Victim Survey」 data collected by the Korean Institute of Criminology . Analysis, self- protective behavior and fear of crime is confirmed that there is a causal interactive. Also, unlike the model of Ferraro(1995) disorder affects only perceived risk and fear of crime, social cohesion was found to affect only perceived risk. On the other hand, risk perception was found on the positive effect on both fear of crime and self-protective behavior. This result is significant in that it suggests that self-protection can act as a cause and a result of the fear of crime, expanding the area of research in fear of crime.
