Abstract

This study analyzes the principles and forms of creativity in disability arts based on key concepts from disability studies. Through literature review and conceptual analysis, the research identifies four foundational principles of creative practice in disability arts: Existential Creation, Innovative Creation, Relational Creation, and Inclusive Eco-Creation. Building upon these principles, the study further categorizes four distinct forms through which creative processes are manifested: Experiential Creativity, Technological Creativity, Mutual-Participatory Creativity, and Subversive Creativity. The findings suggest that disability arts should be understood not merely as an expressive form of art, but as a creative practice that embodies the core tenets of disability studies. By conceptualizing the types of creativity within disability arts, the study proposes an interdisciplinary convergence between disability studies and the arts. Notably, it moves away from conventional paradigms that emphasize individual genius or originality, and instead theorizes creativity as a process grounded in the lived experiences and social relations of disabled individuals. Future research should apply this theoretical framework to empirical inves- tigations, incorporating the lived experiences of disabled artists to explore how dis- ability arts can evolve into a socially and economically sustainable practice. This study serves as a foundational inquiry that redefines the systematization of creativity in disability arts, offering a new model for interdisciplinary research between the humanities and disability studies.
