프레임과 프레임 사이에서 잔상은 정통적인 필름영화나 애니메이션의 움직임 에 관한 동역학적 착시만을 위해 기여 하는 것이 아니다. 19세기 원시영화에서 페나키스트스코프의 잔상이 운동환영을 보여주었다면 쏘우마트로프, 스테레오 쏘우마트로프의 광학기기는 지각적으로 합성된 공간을 구현했다. 그리고 1960 년대에 이르러 현대미술의 미니멀리즘적 경향이 두드러지는 동안, 동시대의 구 조영화에서 1820년대의 유형학적 사진, 쏘우마트로프를 보는 듯한 지각적 실험 들이 영화의 시간으로 나타났다. 이 연구는 프레임 사이의 간격을 쏘우마트로프 와 구조영화에 구축된 이미지의 동시성을 통해 가늠하려 한다. 이를 통해 간과되 거나 분류되지 않았던 모호한 지각적 깊이의 계보를 추적한다.
Abstract
Afterimages between frames do not contribute only to dynamic optical illusions about movement in traditional film movies or animations. In the early stages of 19th century pre-cinema, if the phenakistoscope showed the illusion of motion, the repetitive intersections of optical devices of the thaumatrope and stereo thaumatrope realized a perceptually composited space. While the trend of minimalism in modern art in the 1960s was emphasized, similar perceptual experiments, like watching the development process of typological photography and thaumatrope in the 1820s in structural films, appeared as temporal experiences. This study attempts to measure the space between frames through the simultaneity of images constructed and shown in thaumatrope and structural film. Through this, we trace the genealogy of ambiguous perceptual depth that has not been overlooked or classified.
