이 연구는 다문화적 시민성의 함양을 위한 문화 감응 교수 방법의 특징과 이론적 근거를 명료하게 탐색하고, 문화 감응 교수를 활용한 교실수업 전략을 개발하는 데 그 목적을 두고 있다. 사회구성주의, 배려윤리, 문화 차이 패러다임을 중요한 이론적 토대로 삼고 있는 문화 감응 교수는 학습의 모든 측면에서 학생의 문화적 준거를 포함하는 것의 중요성을 인정하는 교수 방식이다. 문화감응 교수를 활용한 교실 수업 전략은 교실 환경 조성을 위한 전략, 수업 설계를 위한 전략, 수업전개를 위한 전략으로 구분할 수 있다. 교실 환경 조성을 위해 교사는 지지적ㆍ촉진적 교실 환경을구축하고 학생에 대한 높은 기대를 가져야 한다. 수업 설계에 있어서 교사는 문화적으로 매개된 수업과 학생중심적인 수업을 지향해야 한다. 끝으로 수업 전개에 있어서 교사는 학생들에게 적절한비계 설정을 해 줌과 동시에 다양한 협동학습의 기회를 부여해 주어야 한다.
Abstract
A new kind of citizenship is needed for multicultural societies is multicultural citizenship. It recognizes and legitimizes the right and need of citizens to maintain commitments both to ethnic and cultural communities and to the national civic culture. Proponents of multicultural education argue that culturally responsive teaching is very helpful for cultivating multicultural citizenship. Culturally responsive teaching can be defined as using the cultural knowledge,prior experience, frames of reference, and performance styles of racially and ethnically diverse students. It builds bridges of meaningfulness between home and school experiences as well as between academic abstractions and lived sociocultural realities. It's theoretical foundations can be derived from social constructivism, care ethics and cultural deprivation paradigm. Teachers who want to use culturally responsive teaching in their classrooms should adopt the following strategies: ① Teachers should construct supportive and facilitative classroom environments. ② Teachers should have high expectations. ③Teachers should develop culturally mediated instruction. ④ Teachers should orient student centered instruction. ⑤ Teachers should use proper scaffolding. ⑥ Teachers should give students various cooperative learning opportunities.
