중학교 국어과 교과서 선정 기준 설정 실태 연구

이 연구의 목적은 학교 현장에서 국어과 교과서 선정 기준을 설정한 실태를 분석하는 것이다. 국정 교과서에서 검정 교과서로 교과서 정책이 변한 이후 적절한 교과서를 선정하는 일은 학교 현장의 매우 중요한 과업이 되었다. 교과서 선정과 관련된 경험과 전문성이 일정 수준 확보되지 않은 상태에서, 표준화된 교과서 선정 기준의 개발과 제공은 초기 제도 정착에 중요한 역할을 감당하게 된다. 이 연구는 현장에 적합한 교과서 선정 기준을 개발하기 위한 기초 연구로서, 우선적으로 현재 학교 현장의 교과서 선정 기준 설정 실태를 분석하였다. 이를 위해 전국의 중학교 100개를 선정하여 국어과 교과서 선정 기준 자료를 수집하였다. 2012년 3월 기준 전국 중학교 시도별 현황 자료를 활용하여 층화 무선 추출(stratified random sampling) 방식으로 표집 대상을 확정했다. 특히, 지역별, 학교 규모별 선정 기준에 차이가 있을 수 있다는 판단하여 특별시, 광역시, 중소도시, 읍면 지역의 4개 범주를 설정하고 범주별로 25개의 학교를 무선 표집하였다. 교과서 선정 관련 자료는 무선 표집한 100개 학교의 홈페이지에 게시된 국어과 교과서 선정 기준 파일을 다운로드하여 수집하였다. 수집한 자료를 체계적으로 분류하기 위한 자료 코딩 체계를 개발하여 자료 분석에 적용하였다. 연구 결과 교육과학기술부에서 제공한 A안을 그대로 적용한 학교가 9개교, A안을 일부 변형한 학교가 51개교, B안을 그대로 적용한 학교가 22개교, B안을 일부 변형한 학교가 7개교, 새로운 유형을 적용한 학교가 11개교로 나타났다. 분석 결과를 바탕으로 선정 기준의 변형 양상에 드러난 함의를 양적인 측면과 질적인 측면으로 구분하여 고찰하고, 일반 교과용 기준과 차별되는 국어 교과의 특수성 반영의 필요에 대한 제언을 하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze present state of selection criteria for Korean textbook in school field. Since textbook policy was changed from government-published textbook to officially approved textbook, to select appropriate textbook became very important task in school field. In the state that experience and expertise related to selection of textbook is not secured to a certain level, development and supply of selection criteria for textbook plays an important role in initial establishment of system. This study is basic one for development of selection criteria for textbook appropriate to the field. And first of all, the study investigated status of setting selection criteria for textbook in school field. To do this, 100 middle schools in whole Korea were selected and materials for selection criteria for Korean Textbook were collected. The sampling subjects were decided in method of stratified random sampling using materials for status each city and province where middle schools are located in whole Korea as of March 2012. Especially, it was judged that there could be differences in selection standard each region and school size. So, four categories were set - special municipality, metropolitan city, small and medium city, and eup/myeon region. And 25 schools each category were selected ar random. For material related to selection of textbook, basically, files for selection standard for Korean textbook listed on homepage for 100 schools selected at random were downloaded. Material coding system for systematic classification of collected data was developed and applied in data analysis. The study results are as follows. There were 9 schools where A type provided from Ministry of Education, Science and Technology was applied as it is; 51 schools where A type was partly revised; 22 schools where B type was applied as it is; 7 schools where B type was partly revised; 11 schools where new type was applied. As the results of investigating selection criteria for Korean textbook based on analysis results, it can be known that it was passive in aspect of revision degree while it was reduction-oriented in the aspect of revision direction.
