Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to examine the churches legitimacy and performance. Specifically, it focuses on the institutional environments and strategy resources. For this purpose, five main research questions were developed on how these variables are related to each other. Each variable is distinguished into several factors or dimensions. One institutional variables(the number of minister participate in upper association), two strategy resource variables are distinguished into human, organization resource(the mission work time of missionary, the maintenance period of social welfare facilities on the churches), organizational legitimacy(the number of ministers outside lectures), organizational performance(the increase number of new baptist). To accomplish research objective, this study collected data from 52 churches and surveyed with questionnaire method. Techniques used in analyzing data was multiple regression and Sobel test. SPSS for windows programs were applied in the analysis. The summarized results of the study are as the following. First, the significant relation between the normative isomorphism and organizational legitimacy. It's means that isomorphism variable is very important factor in explaining the effects on the organization legitimacy. Second, it is shown that the human and organization resources positively affects to the organizational legitimacy. The results from empirical analyses indicated that the strategic resources effectively select and utilize are influence different degree of organization legitimacy. This is consistent with previous studies. Third, the finding describes that organizational legitimacy significantly affects on organizational performance. The finding suggest that if a minister with the popularity in the churches will have organizational legitimacy and new baptist is increased. Finally, organizational legitimacy has mediated effects on the relationship between independence variables(normative isomorphism, human and organization resources)and organizational performance. The results from the analyses revealed that the number of minister participate in upper association, mission work time of missionary and maintenance period of social welfare facilities on the churches are affects to increase the number of new baptist. Also this is related to the number of ministers outside lectures.
