환경적 요인이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향

일반 국민들이 느끼는 행복감이나 삶에 대한 만족감의 크기를 정량적으로 측정하고 이에 대한 결정요인을 파악하는 것은 연구자뿐만 아니라 정책입안자에게도 중요한 정보를 제공할 수 있다. 이러한 관점에서 수행되는 많은 연구들은 대부분 경제적 및 사회적 요인을 주요 설명변수로 고려하며, 환경적 요인을 고려한 국내연구는 부족한 상황이다. 따라서 본 연구는 개인의 환경의식과 태도 등 다양한 환경적 요인이 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향을 실증적으로 분석하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 분석결과, 우리나라 국민의 삶의 만족도에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 요인은 객관적 및 주관적 경제수준인 것으로 나타났지만, 2013년부터 환경적 요인의 영향력이 점차 증가하는 현상을 확인할 수 있었다. 특히 우리나라 환경 전반에 대한 만족도가 높거나 환경에 대한 개인적인 관심이 많은 경우 삶의 만족도가 높아지는 것으로 나타나, 정부가 적절한 환경정책 시행을 통해 환경을 개선하고 환경에 대한 관심을 유도함으로써 국민의 행복에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 것으로 판단된다. 향후 추가적인 연구를 통해 환경변수와 방법론을 보완한다면 정부정책 수립에 유용한 정보를 제공할 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
Quantitative measurement of the happiness or the quality of life can be important issues for policy makers as well as for researchers. Previous literature considered various economic and social factors as major explanatory variables, but environmental factors are not considered as one of the significant variables in Korea. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of various environmental factors such as environmental consciousness and attitude on the quality of life empirically in the individual level. As a result, economic factors have the greatest effect on the quality of life in Korea from 2012 to 2015. However, some environmental variables are statistically significant, and their effects are increasing gradually from 2013. In particular, when the satisfaction level of the overall current environment or the individual interest in the environment is high, the individual’s quality of life can be increased. Hence, the quality of life of Korean people can be improved through the implementation of appropriate environmental policy by Korean government. If additional studies are supplemented with advanced environmental variables and methodologies, it will provide useful information for government policy.
