무인도서는 지리적으로 격리된 특성을 최대한 활용하고 도서의 자연·문화자원을 이용한 특이한 체험기회를 제공함으로써 관광적 가치를 제고할수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 관광객의 욕구와 동기를 충족할 수 있는 관광개발방안 마련을 위해 무인도서에 대한 대국인 인식조사를 통하여 무인도서 관광 행태 및 선호요인을 분석한다. 또한 무인도서의 지리적요인, 제도적요인, 관광수요 요인을 고려한 관광잠재력 평가체계를 개발하여 50개 개발가능 무인도서를 대상으로 관광개발의 잠재력이 높은 무인도서를 우선적으로 선별하고 심층평가 단계를 거쳐 구체적인 개발방안을 제시하였다. 본 연구결과는 무인도서가 가지고 있는 지리적 이점과 생태적 가치 등을 활용한 지속가능한 무인도서 개발방안을 제시하기 위한 틀을 마련하는데 기여할 수 있다고 판단된다.
Abstract
Currently, management and development of uninhabited islands has been an increasingly important issue to achieve sustainable use of islands and to satisfy new demands for islands tourism. This paper constructs an assessment process for the tourism development potential of the uninhabited islands employing multiattribute utility theory(MAUT). This assessment framework links environmental, geographical, institutional attributes and tourism demand factors. Weights are calculated by the MAUT technique. The paper provides the assessment process and the result of potential for uninhabited islands in Korea. The study examines the model’s development process and recorded the results so that the model can be properly applied and developed further. To provid critical information to policymaker, the implications of the results and application plan of the management and development policy for the uninhabited islands are also discussed.
