지방대 교수의 지역밀착형 산학협력 참여기제와 특성에 관한 탐색연구: 서부경남 지역을 중심으로

초록

지역이 발전하기 위해서는 지방대학을 중심으로 하는 지역밀착형 산학협력이 활성화되어야 하며, 이를 위해 지방대 교수의 지역밀착형 산학협력 특성을 이해할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서는 지방대 교수가 지역밀착형 산학협력에 참여하는 기제를 Strauss and Corbin(1990, 1998)의 근거이론(grounded theory) 접근법으로 분석한다. 분석대상은 서부경남에 위치한 지방대학에서 산학협력 활동경험이 있는 교수이며, 근거이론의 이론적 표집에 따라 9명의 최종 연구참여자를 결정하였다. QSR사의 NVivo10을 활용하여 면담자료의 개방코딩과 축코딩을 수행한 결과, 110개의 개념과 24개의 하위범주, 그리고 12개의 범주를 도출하였다. 본 연구에서는 개방코딩과 축코딩의 결과를 토대로 ‘지방대 교수의 지역밀착형 산학협력의 특성’을 핵심범주로 선정하고 이야기 윤곽으로 이론을 전개하였다. 지방대 교수의 지역밀착형 산학협력의 특성으로는 ‘교원의 임무로 인식’, ‘지역연고의 효과’, ‘주된 재원은 중앙정부’, ‘비공식적 산학협력이 우세’, ‘지역기업으로 학생공급 애로’ 및 ‘인프라는 수도권 대비 열위’를 제시하였다. 본 연구에서 탐색한 지방대 교수의 지역밀착형 산학협력 참여기제와 특성은 후속연구의 토대로 활용될 수 있다.

Abstract

In order for a region to prosper, the community-based university-industry cooperation (hereinafter, CUIC) led by local universities must be activated. However, the phenomena of professors’ participation in CUIC are not well-known until now. Therefore, this study explores the process and characteristics of professors’ participation in CUIC in local region using Strauss and Corbin (1990, 1998)'s grounded theory approach. The 9 interviewees were professors with the experiences of CUIC at local universities in western Gyeongnam and were decided as the final study participants according to the theoretical sampling of grounded theory. Open coding and axial coding of interview data using NVivo10 by QSR International resulted in 110 concepts, 24 subcategories, and 12 categories. In this study, based on the results of open coding and axial coding, ‘the characteristics of CUIC led by local university professors were selected as the core category and theories were developed as story lines. They include ‘recognition as the mission of local university professors’, ‘the effect of local connection’, ‘central government as the main source of funding’, ‘the predominance of the informal CUIC,’ ‘the difficulty in providing students to local firms,’ and ‘infrastructure inferior to the metropolitan area’. The phenomena and theories of the CUIC explored in this study can be used as a basis for further research.
