본고에서는 1970년대 시, 특히 김지하, 신경림, 서정주의 서술시를 중심으로 그 양식적 특성과 시대적 맥락을 살펴보았다. 김지하의 담시 오적은 판소리의 독창적인 구조와 화법에서 서술의 양식을 발견하고 단형의 판소리로 그것을 실현한 것이다. 판소리의 다성적인 화법과 강조점이 분명한 탄력적인 구성방식, 그리고 지적이고 날카로운 풍자의 방식은 이 시에 역동적인 실감을 부여하고 주제의식을 확연하게 드러낸다. 신경림은 농무에서 구체적인 묘사와 독특한 서술의 방식으로 소외계층의 삶을 재현하였고, 새재에서는 민요의 가락과 정서를 통해 보편적이고 전통적인 정한의 정서를 표현하였다.서정주는 질마재 신화의 민간 설화의 소재와 양식에서 서술시의 가능성을 적극적으로 실험하였다. 평범한 민중의 삶에 내재해있는 본연의 질서와 우주적인 교감을 통해 그는 근대적 시간에 의해 망각되어온 존재의 영속성을 추구하고자 하였다.1970년대에 서술시가 확산되고 전통양식이 적극적으로 수용된 배경은 산업화와 근대화에 따른 시대적 변화와 민족문학론의 전격적인 대두와 관련을 맺고 있다. 삶의 다양성과 구체성을 표현하려는 욕구가 강해지면서 시에서도 서술의 역할이 강화된다. 이 시기의 서술시들은 또한 민족의 동질성을 강하게 의식하면서 전통양식의 창조력을 새롭게 발견하고 양식화하였다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to consider the genre-character and their periodic context of narrative poems in 1970s, especially those of Kim ji-ha, Sin gyung-lim, and Seo jung-ju. Kim ji-ha finds the method of narration in the unique structure and narration of Pansori (the Korean traditional monologue opera), and changes it to short form in his Damsi (a narrative poem) [Ojuk (Five thieves)]. This poem shows dynamic realization and definite subject matter by means of polyphonic narration like Pansori, elastic composi- tion method that has obvious emphasis part, and intellectual and acute satire. Sin gyung-lim makes the life of alienated class reappear with concrete description and unique narration in his collection of poems [Nongmu (the dance of peasant)]. Also he represents general and traditional emo- tion through melody and feeling of folk song in another collection of poems [Seje]. Seo jung-ju, in his collection of poems [Jilmaje Sinwha (the Myth of Jilma Hill)], experiments the possibility of narrative poem progressively with the material and form of folk fable. He pursuits the perpetuity of existence that has been forgotten in modern times, by means of intrinsic order and natural rapport that is indwell in the lives of masses. The reason of narrative poems spread and positive admission of tradi- tional genre in 1970s is concerned with periodic change that was brought about by industrialization and modernization and genuine rise of national literature debate. As the desire that expresses the variety and substance increases, the role of narration in poem is strengthened. Also the narra- tive poems of this period realize the national homogeneity strongly, so discover and restore the creativity of traditional genre newly.
