마음의 검열관, 반공주의와 작가의 자기 검열 －김승옥의 경우

Abstract

After the Independence from Japan, the ruling system and its repression were the cultural condition of Korean writers. They brought for Korean writers to a poor state of writing process forming the phobia and the taboo for Bangongjuui and offered the clue of distortion and resistance through writing. From 50"s to 60"s, literary discourse was particularly revealed the symptoms based on self-censor of writer"s inner mind which was repressed by ideological prohibition. This essay attempts to analyze the aspect of writer"s self-censor, especially Kim, Seung-ok, from the viewpoint of dream-inspection and dream-distortion in the concept of Freud"s `inner inspector." He was mitigating and substituting the expression and the meaning of his novels intentionally by omitting, falling, and altering the autobiographical factors through the absence of father in the agonizing process of growth, and so accomplishing the picture of his own literary personality by altering context through the point shift. This meant to vary the course of searching for father in his novels, considering that the self-censorship was to identify the oppressing system of Bangongjuui as the reality of prohibition inscribed in writer"s inner world, and availing the inspective bases, that is, the omission, substitution, and alteration of expressions and con-text for taboo called the name of the Father. The repression and inspection in the oppressing system of Bangongjuui was to reveal the self-censorship for writers, and so the ideological forbid dance resulting from it was to form writer"s passive identity and assure his unique literary mind through the recognition and self-reflection for that prohibition. There was Kim, Seung-ok himself in such a case. Such a distinctive feature represented a particular aspect of Korean literature in that, as a restrictive ideology and cultural system in the modem nation, anti-communism together with the passivity made the literary picture through the critical cognition and introspection possible. Particularly, that passivity molded even the identity of Korean literature.
