'정치적 자유'의 한 양상 - 최인훈의 1960년대 소설을 중심으로

1950년대와 1960년대가 차별화되는 지점은 정치적 자유에 대한 인식의 차이에 있다. 1930년대에도 정치적 자유가 논의되기는 했지만 구체적이지 못했고 심지어 전체주의적 방식으로 이해되기도 했다. 4·19 혁명을 거치면서 이같은 정치적 자유는 전면화되거나 보다 구체화된다. 막강한 반공주의 체제하에서 1930년대 자유주의와 관련한 대표적인 문학적 응답으로서 우리는 선우휘와 김성한을 거론할 수 있다. 선우휘가 예속적 자유주의를 표상해 왔다면 김성한은 관념적인 한계를 보이고 있기는 하지만 저항담론으로서의 정치적 자유를 전면에 제시했다고 할 수 있다. 이같은 정치적 자유는 4·19 혁명을 계기로 하여 보다 전면화되고 구체화되었다. 4·19혁명을 계기로 하여 문학장은 다양한 형태의 미적 분화를 보이고 있는데 이는 4·19혁명의 정치적 자유의 성격과 그것이 함축하고 있는 자유와 평등을 문학의 장 안에서 담론화하고자 하는 의지의 다른 표현이다. 그렇지만 그러한 의지가 항상 정치적 자유에 대해서 우호적인 것만은 아니었다. 이미 1950년대에도 그 분화의 양상이 확인되지만 1960년대라고 해서 예외는 아니었던 것이다. 그 의지는 때로 급진적인 형태로, 때로는 온건하거나 보수적인 형태로 전개되었는데, 형태야 어쨌건간에 그것은 지극히 정치적인 것이었고, 자유의 내포를 각자의 방식으로 채워나가는 개인적이고 계급적인 성격을 함축하고 있었다. 본 논문에서는 1960년대 작가들의 작품을 정치적 자유라는 개념으로 분석하여 특히 저항적 관점에서 그것이 어떻게 문학화 되는지를 살펴보았다. 이러한 분석을 위해 본 논문에서는 1960년대 대표작가라 할 수 있는 최인훈과 그의 작품을 대상으로 하였으며, 주로 그의 1960년대 작품들을 다루었다. 이 작가의 1960년대 작품을 정치적 자유라는 주제로 살펴 본 결과 그의 작품세계가 정치적 자유를 추구하면서 1950년대의 예속적 자유주의에서 강하게 벗어나려 했음을 확인할 수 있었다. 그것이 어떤 방식으로 수행되는지를 살펴본다는 것은 1960년대 문학의 지형도를 파악하게 해줌과 동시에 나아가 1970년대 문학의 구조까지도 분석할 수 있게 해 주기 때문에 중요한 작업이라고 판단된다.
Abstract
A position of discriminated between 1950's and 1960's has gap in cognizance on the political liberty. The political liberty in 1950's discussed about it does not make clear and even comprehend totalitarian method. Go through the revolution on April 19, such discussion of political liberty was regularized and took more concrete shape. In the system of mighty anticommunism, we can raise an issue of Sun, Woo-hui and Kim, Seong-han as literary reply in connection with the liberalism of 1950's. Sun, Woo-hui was emblematic of a government-patronized liberalism but Kim, Seong-han presented a political liberty as a discussion of resistance at the whole surface, even though his ideological limitations. After the revolution on April 19, a space of literature shows aesthetic differentiation of various form. It is another presentation of the will which discoursed with liberty and equality as the political liberty for the revolution on April 19 in a space of literature. However, such a will was not always friendly about political liberty. The will was evolved now a radical form then a moderately or a conservative form, but anyway it was political contents that implied the private and cIassism character in liberty. This thesis is studying for an literary aspect of political liberty through 1960's literary work. And this thesis makes a study of writer's position about political liberty after the revolution on April 19. Consequently this manuscript survey a situation how can writer's different position embody their literature about political liberty. For this analysis, this manuscript target on Choi, In-hun who was called as a typical writers of 1960's and deal with his literary works was from 1960's. In result, Choi sought to political liberty and made powerfully effort to overcome government-patronized liberalism. To search it carried out for what method grasped topographical map of literature in 1960's and this is important works because of it could analyze the structure of literature in 1970's.
