Abstract
This study aims to verify the effects of incivility experienced by service engineers on the job stress and customer orientation. A survey was conducted targeting service engineers working for industries like communication, electronics, automobile, computer, and water purifier. Total 180 questionnaires were used for empirical analysis by using the structural equation. In this study, the incivility had significantly positive(+) effects on the job stress while having significantly negative(-) effects on the customer orientation. The job stress had significantly negative(-) effects on the customer orientation. Thus, this study could suggest implications as follows. First, it would be a basis to increase the understanding of service engineers that have not been observed by the existing researches, to recognize the seriousness of incivility, and to establish the systematic measures to protect emotions. Second, the incivility was reverified as a cause for the job stress. Third, by measuring the sources of incivility experienced by service engineers in the division of superiors, colleagues, support department, and customers, and then verifying the differences, it could provide the practical implications for the pre/post coping measures.
