Abstract

I explore the manifold voices of the Lukan texts between John and Jesus, culminating in two ambivalent motifs: Repentance and forgiveness of sins and wilderness. In view of the other, John and Jesus are characterized as ‘interdividuals’ stirring up multiple transaction between the author and the heros, and between literary-social contexts and the reader. My new reading is a perpetual way of unfinished being, the so-called incarnational hermeneutic: one voice is continually put in the boundary and joyfully re-viewed by the other. It is a brand new hermeneutic for mutual recognition and trust Lukan John is not contrasted with, or by, Jesus, but works together for the one divine economy, judgement and salvation, particularly in which the physical side of life is freshly rehearsed on a cosmic scale against prevailing symbols of authorities. In so doing, John ‘safeguards’ Jesus’ authenticity intact, as well as creates a dialogic space for the periphery.
