This article aims to looking for the direction of the modern literature studies in the media convergence age. The critical situation facing literature today is related with changes in media as well as changes in society. Therefore, it is needed to find out which changes have been occurred in realism, modernism, postmodernism, and digital literature. First, when it comes to the attitude on understanding of reality, realism is strong for objective reflection on reality, modernism is strong for the inner world. Postmodernism is strong for constitutive reality, and digital literature is strong for virtuality or a fantasy. Second, writers have the absolute position in realism and modernism literatures, however, in postmodernism, readers hold prominent position over writers, and in digital literature, the writer-reader comes out. Third, the writings were canon in realism and modernism literature, and they changed to texts in postmodernism literature, finally they turn out hypertext in digital literature. As a result, digital literature breaking away from conventional text-literature, is regarded as exceptional literature or a new genre. Nevertheless, the studies on literature in the era of information society have no choice but to find out new direction. They require to expand the scope into the culture studies through humanities computing method and literature.
