본 연구의 목적은 중학생과 교사를 대상으로 오디오북에 대한 인식과 장르별 수용 양상을 분석하여 교육적 활용 가능성을 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위해 중학생 100명을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하고, 국어 교사 4인을 대상으로 오디오북 체험 전·후 인식 변화를 조사하였다. 분석 결과, 장르의 흥미도와 난이도 간에는 강한 음의 상관관계가 확인되었으며, 오디오북 수용 의향은 기존 장르 선호도와 유의미한 정적 상관관계를 보였다. 또한 종이책 난이도가 높을수록 오디오북 선호도가 높았다. 교사 인식 조사 결과 체험 후 오디오북의 흥미도, 이해도, 독서 습관 형성 효과가 모두 향상되었다. 교사들은 문학 장르에서 오디오북의 교육적 효과를 높게 평가한 반면, 정보 중심 장르에서는 시각 자료 등 보조 자료의 병행 필요성을 인식하였다. 이는 오디오북이 비독자의 독서를 촉진하고, 학습자에게 효과적인 교육 매체가 될 수 있으며 매체 다양화와 맞춤형 독서 지도에 기여할 수 있음을 보여준다.
Abstract
This study examines teachers’ and middle school students’ perceptions of audiobooks and their genre-specific acceptance, aiming to explore educational applications. A survey of 100 students and a pre/post audiobook experience with four Korean language teachers revealed a strong negative correlation between genre interest and perceived difficulty, and a positive correlation between audiobook adoption and existing genre preferences. Students who found printed books more difficult preferred audiobooks more. Post-experience, teachers reported increased student interest, comprehension, and reading habit formation, valuing audiobooks for narrative and emotionally engaging literary genres, while noting the need for visual supplements for information-heavy texts. Findings indicate audiobooks can engage non-readers, function as an effective learning medium, and support diversified, tailored reading instruction.
