Abstract

This study designs a modular Korean language and culture curriculum for immigrant parents to enhance their participation in schooling and integration into Korean society. The “Culture and Information” sections of KIIP textbooks (Levels 1–4) were analyzed, and 68 items were compared with the cultural standards of the Standard Korean Language Curriculum for International Use and parental guidebooks from local education offices. Results show that while KIIP addresses basic daily culture, it insufficiently covers school systems and parental engagement. To fill this gap, 12 modular themes were developed, organized by priority, proficiency level, and cultural domain (knowledge or perspective), with weekly instructional plans and performance-based rubrics. The modules provide practical cultural knowledge, are adaptable to community settings, and offer a framework for parent-focused cultural education within Korea’s social integration policies.
