18세기 문학사에서 四家詩人은 언제나 주목을 받아왔다. 한데 유득공을 비롯한 四家詩人이 가장 精彩있는 모습을 보인 것은 同人으로서 활동이 지속된 초기 시기였고, 그 결과가 담긴 시집이 『사가시집』이다. 본고는 『사가시집』에 실린 유득공의 초기작에 초점을 맞추어 그 문예미적 특성을 검토하였다. 내용의 측면에서 유득공의 시는 역시 우리 역사에서 취재한 영사시가 중요하였다. 사가시집의 시에 언급되는 우리 역사상의 지명․인명 및 풍속 등을 四家 개인별로 조사해본 결과, 유득공의 경우 다른 세 사람의 그것을 합친 것보다도 훨씬 더 많은 양을 기록하고 있음을 확인하였다. 영사시란 그 속성상 대개 애상적 정조를 띠게 되는 것이지만, 유득공의 경우 개인의 내적 지향이 아니라 민족사에 대한 조망이 그 바탕에 자리하고 있었다. 표현의 측면에서 유득공의 시는 크게 세 가지 특징을 지적할 수 있었다. 첫째 助字, 둘째 색채어, 셋째 疊語의 사용에서 다른 세 사람보다 훨씬 풍부하고 다양하였으며, 첩어 같은 경우는 특히 압도적인 質量의 우세를 보였다. 유득공은 사가 가운데 전문적으로 시를 쓰겠다는 의식이 가장 투철한 시인이었다.
Abstract
This thesis is a study on the poems of Yu Duek-gong. Yu Duek-gong, outstanding poet, was illustrious figure in the 18th Korean history of literature. In this thesis, the beauty of poetic expression of Yu Duek-gong's is illustrated using as a main text, Saga poetry, which contains four men's poems written in during their youth. Most of his poems left are about history. In the aspects of contents, they were grasped in a grievous tone instead of a lyrical pathos peculiarly appeared in historic poem. However through concrete examining about his works it is verified that a grievous tone is not based on only inner inclination of poet's own view but also long-range view through the whole history of the nation. In the aspects of expression, his poems has three features. The writer analyzed the each 100 poem of four poets' in the Saga poetry. As the results, his poems are much more opulent and various than other three persons' in postpositional words, expressions of color and reiterative. He had thorough deliberation in writing poems.
