학교폭력은 학생들을 자살로 내몰 만큼 심각한 문제이다. 이에 학교폭력 예방과 관련한 여러 정책들이 제시되고 있는 상황이지만 근본적인 대책이라고 하기에는 미흡하다. 본 논문은 학교폭력에 대해 학생 스스로 변화할 수 있도록 동기부여를 하는 근본적인 교육적 접근을 마련하였는데, 이를 도덕적 정서인 도덕적 공감을 이용하여 제시하였다. 구체적으로 네 단계에 걸쳐 진행되는 도덕적 공감 계발 활동을 통해 학생들은 학교폭력의 피해자, 가해자, 그리고 방관자 모두를 고통과 도움의 관점에서 생각할 수 있다. 따라서 본 활동은 학교폭력 예방을 위하여 본질적인 의미가 있으며 가치 함축적인 교육적 접근이라고 말할 수 있다.
Abstract
School violence in Korea is a serious problem, and it is often a major contributing factor when students commit suicide. Because of this, the government has developed and offers many related programs for preventing school violence, but they are not fundamental. In this paper, a radical approach to education that helps students develop self-motivation to change themselves is taken by utilizing compassion, a moral emotion. The approach I have designed is called “Activities for Cultivating Compassion.” It includes four steps which enable students to consider victims, perpetrators, and bystanders in terms of suffering and help. Thus, this program could play an essential, meaningful role in preventing school violence by adding value implications to education programs.
