본 글은 도덕적 미의 체험을 통한 도덕성의 함양 방향에 대해 탐색한다. 이를 위해 먼저 미와 도덕의 관계에 대해 검토한다. 미와 도덕 간의 조화와 통합을 인정하는 쉴러의 입장은 자율적인 통합적 도덕성 함양을 목표로 하는 초등 도덕교육에 큰 시사점을 제공한다. 우리는 초등학교 도덕교육의 목표를 도덕성의 미적 측면을 추가하여 인지적, 정의적, 미적, 행동적 요소가 조화롭게 발달된 자율적이고 통합적인 도덕성의 함양으로 확대하는 것에 대해 검토할 필요가 있다. 아울러 이러한 목표 달성을 위해 초등학교 도덕교육은 미적 체험을 통한 감각과 이성의 조화, 자기 이해와 자아 정체성의 확립, 그리고 도덕적, 미적 감수성의 신장을 위해 노력할 필요가 있다.
Abstract
This paper explores the direction for building morality through experiences of moral beauty. To achieve this purpose, at first I examine the relationship between beauty and morality. The position, which F. Schiller recognized harmony and integration between beauty and morality, gives great suggestions on elementary moral education which aims to foster the autonomous integrated morality. It is necessary for us to examine the extension of goal in elementary moral education, which aims to foster the cognitive, emotional, aesthetical, and active parts of morality so that cultivates an autonomous and harmoniously integrated morality, in addition to the aesthetic aspects. And in order to achieve this goal, elementary moral education strives for the harmony of sense and reason through aesthetic experiences, the establishment of self-understanding and self-identity, and the cultivation of moral, aesthetical sensibility.
