이 글은 한정희 교사가 제자인 영민(가명)이의 삶과 자신의 삶을 상호적으로 이해하면서 교육적 관계를 윤리적으로 형성하는 이야기이다. 한교사는 먼저 자신의 삶을 자전적으로 탐구하면서 25년의 교사생활 동안 가지고 온 핵심적인 존재 물음과 정직하게 대면한다. 자기 존재 물음에서 시작된 한교사의 존재론적 탐구는 자신의 삶과 영민이의 삶을 오가며, 자신의 과거-현재-미래의 삶을 오가며, 그리고 일방적 타자의 언어와 자신의 실존적 언어 사이를 오가며 진행된다. 한교사는 탐구의 과정에서 얻은 이해를 바탕으로 영민이와의 교육적 관계 맺기에 관한 내용과 방법을 찾고 실천해가면서 교사로서의 정체성을 형성해간다. 이러한 한교사의 존재구성은 학생의 성장을 이끌고 돌보는 교사의 윤리적 삶의 형성 과정을 잘 보여준다. 따라서 이 연구는 도덕교육을 실천하는 현장 교사들이 어떻게 학생과의 관계 속에서 바람직한 교사 정체성을 형성할 수 있는지, 그리고 교육자가 가져야 할 참된 윤리성이 어떤 실체인지를 성찰할 수 있는 기회를 줄 것이다.
Abstract
This inquiry is a storied account regarding forming an educational meaning of a teacher(Jeonghee) and a student(Youngmin) based on interactive understanding. On her first stage of the inquiry, Jeonghee honestly met the essential and fundamental life question she had brought with her life through her autobiographical inquiry. Her genuine existential question of being was inquired by going between her and Youngmin, between her past, present, and future, and between her existential language and the prescriptive language she was shaped throughout her whole life. Jeonghee continued to uncover and practice the educational contents and methods regarding forming the desirable relationship with Youngmin based on the understanding of their relations. This story contains a rich description of how a teacher forms her moral identity as well as the process of becoming a teacher in a vivid way. Accordingly, this inquiry resonates the ideas of how a teacher shapes one's moral identity with school teachers and teacher educators.
