Abstract
The resilience of elementary pre-service teachers is a very important construct for predicting successful adaptation and developmental outcomes in both college life and future teaching profession life. Most quantitative studies dealing with the resilience of pre-service teachers utilized variable-centered approaches that mainly did focus on identifying causal structures among variables that might affect resilience, thus failing to clearly identify aspects of emotional regulation, realistic optimism, causal analysis and self-efficacy within the individual. In this article, we used latent profile analysis to find latent classes with heterogeneous features based on the major components of resilience among elementary pre-service teachers, and did check whether there were differences in satisfaction with life, hope, and grit levels depending on the identified latent classes. The important findings of this study were as follows. First, the latent profile analysis found that the latent class based on the emotional regulation, realistic optimism, causal analysis, and self-efficacy of elementary pre-service teachers was divided into three groups(lower-resilience, middle-resilience, and upper-resilience) with heterogeneous characteristics. Second, it was found that there were differences in satisfaction with life, hope, and grit levels depending on the identified latent class, and all four subordinate variables scored high in order of upper-resilience, middle-resilience, and lower-resilience.
