한국 사회가 경제적, 문화적으로 성장하면서 많은 외국인들이 유입되었다. 이에 따라 외국인을 대하는 우리의 시각을 점검하고 반성할 필요가 있다. 이 글은 타자의 이방성 문제를 상호문화철학적으로 접근함으로써, 우리의 시각을 반성하고 새로운 방향을 모색해 보고자 하는 시도이다. 이를 위해 우선 중심주의와 문화상대주의를 조화시키려는 Mall의 유비적 해석학 모델과 타자를 기능적 사회의 일원으로 받아들임으로써 이방성을 해체시키는 하버마스적 접근법의 문제점을 다룰 것이다. 아울러 레비나스의 입장에서 두 상호문화철학적 접근법을 비판적으로 살펴보고, 타자를 직접 대면하며 대화함으로써 생생한 타자의 이방성을 경험하고 받아들일 수 있다고 하는 레비나스의 입장도 고찰해 보고자 한다.
Abstract
As Korean society matured socially, and economically and culturally, many foreigners came in. Accordingly, it is necessary to examine and reflect on our views toward foreigners. This article reflects on our perspective and seeks a new direction by approaching the problem of the foreignness of others from an intercultural philosophy. To this end, we will first deal with Mall's analogical hermeneutic model that tries to harmonize centralism and cultural relativism, and Habermas’ approach that deconstructs the foreignness by accepting the other as a member of a functional society. In addition, I would like to critically examine the two intercultural philosophical approaches from Levinas's point of view, and also look at Levinas's point of view that it is possible to experience and accept the other's otherness through direct dialogue with the other.
