Abstract
In order to understand the deepening problems of production, income and consumption in the metropolitan area using big data, this study reclassifies Korea's 17 regions into 6 regions and applies Miyazawa multi-regional data expansion analysis including production, income and consumption. Thus, balanced regional development was analyzed. As of 2015, in terms of total production, the metropolitan area accounts for 47% of Korea's total product and 48% of total consumption expenditure, but it showed the following two interesting results. First, in terms of the income inducing effect due to consumption expenditure in other regions, the largest self- and indirect inducing effect is in the metropolitan area, and the overall degree was measured at 2.294, and the indirect effect was found to be 0.915. On the other hand, the household income multiplier, which is the effect of consumption expenditure in the metropolitan area on other regions, was the largest in the metropolitan area at 1.480, but the indirect multiplier excluding self-generated income (1.379) was 0.101, the lowest among the six regions. Based on this result, the metropolitan area's contribution index to other regions' income formation was the lowest at 17.7%, so the industrial structure concentrated in the metropolitan area should be reorganized in a way to increase its contribution to other regions' income formation. In particular, information and communications technology has a high contribution to income formation. Research results have shown that it is necessary to decentralize or relocate the content service industry to local areas. Based on this paper, we hope that it will be used as reference data when making decisions on national balance policy.
