윤리교육과 의사소통교육의 연계 모델에 관한 연구

Abstract

The aim of this essay is to tentatively present a pedagogic program to combine ethics as an academic liberal arts course and communicative approach. As is generally known, the duty of ethics is to make a sharp distinction between good and evil, right and wrong, based on the indomitable critical spirit of philosophy as its mother science. Today, it must establish itself as the last bulwark to defend the public heritage of higher education and our right to think against the one-dimensional domination of economic rationality. And the ethics education in universities must meet such needs of the times by endeavoring to restore the students's right to think autonomously and to communicate democratically to them. This is because the old-fashioned indoctrinating education which stuffs their head with the stereotyped 'truths' is very likely to damage their ability to think critically far from expanding it. And this is why I think that dynamic discussion is more suitable as the method of ethics education than one-way lecture. Students attending an ethics class must not be regarded as the 'trainees' who are to be filled with the value-free informations and skills. On the contrary, they must be regarded as the 'parties' concerned in this and that communication dealing with the various value-laden problems. In this respect, the significance of dialogue for philosophy and ethics is not 'peripheral' or 'additional,' but 'constitutive.' Based on this critical mind, I will diagnose the lack of communicative methodology as the most serious problem of the present ethics education, and then present a tentative class program to combine ethics education and communication education as a pedagogic solution for it.
