본 연구에서는 제7차 사회과 교육과정에 의거한 경제지리 교과의 교육과정상의 특성을 개관적으로 고찰하고, 이를 기반으로 경제지리 교과서의 체제 및 내용을 분석하였다. 분석결과, 경제지리 교과서는 체제 및 내용의 측면에서 획기적으로 변혁되어 제7차 사회과 교육과정에서 강조하고 있는 학습자의 자기주도적 학습, 수준별 학습, 협동 학습 등이 원천적으로 가능하도록 하고 있다. 또한, 학습자의 사고력 신장을 위한 탐구 활동이 보편화되어 있고, 각종 참고 자료가 다양하게 제시되어 있다. 그러나 탐구 활동과 관련 참고 자료의 일부 내용이 부적합하거나 부정확한 점 등이 문제점으로 드러나고 있다. 이러한 문제점은 교과서 집필 및 검정 과정에서 해결되어야 할 것이다.
Abstract
The economic geography textbook in the 7th social studies curriculum is to be composed of contents that could discover the fundamental knowledge of social phenomena, inquire the basic concepts and principles of subject and solve the social problems using the several informations. In this study, considering the orientations of economic geography textbook, the frame and content of it was analyzed.The analytical results of this study are as follows : Firstly, the economic geography textbook focuses to the problem-solving and inquiry developing the creative ability and the thinking ability. Secondly, the economic geography textbook includes the basic program and deep program, but does not include the complementary program. Thirdly, the economic geography textbook uses the several structuring system. Fouthly, the economic geography textbook attempts the enlarging of edition, the coloring of printed matters, the improvement of paper and design, and so on. Fifthly, the economic geography textbook strengthens the function of photograph, diagram, figure, and map in relation to proper contents and inquiring activities.It is appeared that the economic geography textbook has some excellencies in the frame and has some problems in the fitness and correctness of content. These problems of economic geography textbook should be subjugated by systematization of writing and qualifying procedure.
