본 연구에서는 지리교육에서 비교 방식의 필요성을 규명하기 위해, 지역 사례 비교를 활용한 지리 수업 방안을 고안하고 수업을 시행하였다. 수업 결과, 여러 지역의 기후 특성을 서로 비교하여 학습할 때의 학업 성취도가 더 높아서, 다양한 지역의 지리적 특징들을 비교하여 관련시켜주는 것이 학습효과를 증대시킴을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 학생들은 자신들의 경험을 이용하여 친숙한 지역과 낯선 지역을 서로 비교할 때 보다 높은 학습 효과를 보였다.지리교과는 지역 지리적 접근 방식과 계통 지리적 접근 방식을 병행하여 교과 내용을 구성하고 있어 유사한 내용들이 연관 없이 반복되는 경향이 있다. 한 단원 내에, 또는 여러 단원에 분산되어 있는 다양한 지리적 현상들을 지역별로 또는 자신의 지역과 비교하여 학습한다면 각 현상들 간 관련성이 드러나 보다 높은 학습 효과를 거둘 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
Geography subject organizes the contents by both regional and systematic orders. But organizing contents by these orders causes to repeat similar contents. This study proposes ‘comparison’ as a solution to the repetition. It is learning regional facts that are in a lesson or dispersed at several lessons with comparing each other.I design the teaching model applying comparison between regional cases and teach a class through the model. At the result, when geographical features of one region are related to those of other regions by comparison, learners can remember and understand characters of particular regions more effectively. In addition, when the place strange to students is learned, comparing it with private geography of students is effective.
