동양철학의 현재성 - 정의 개념을 중심으로

Abstract

The difficulty that we face in dealing with a core concept in political or social philosophy such as “justice” in terms of East Asian philosophical context is that, since this kind of concept is typically a translation of a certain western politico-philosophical concept, it is never easy to discern which Asian concept can be compared with. Recalling that most of the hotly debated issues and concepts in today's Korea are the product of Western intellectual tradition irrelevant of traditional Asian philosophical heritage, we need not to be surprised at the difficulty. This article aims to explore which way would be the most relevant and productive in investigating critical philosophical concepts such as “justice” employing Asian philosophical resources. Although this does not yield any definite and specific conclusion, I expect that it may contribute to the ongoing discussion about the relevance of East Asian philosophy to “here and now.”
