푸코와 68혁명: 사건이 아닌 경험, 신화가 아닌 비판으로서의 혁명

소외와 차이, 자율성을 전면에 내세운 68혁명에 대한 평가는 반세기를 넘어 정치학과 경제학, 역사와 철학 등 다양한 학제에서 지속적으로 검토되어왔고, 10년 단위로 추모와 맹공으로 재점화된 68혁명에 대한 뜨거운 논쟁은 아직 끝나지 않았다. 68혁명에 대한 이러한 양가적 평가만큼이나 프랑스 철학자, 푸코에 대한 세간의 평가 역시 이와 유사하다. 68혁명 당시의 현장에서의 부재에도 불구하고 가장 68혁명적인 문제의식을 자신의 연구 주제로 다루었을 뿐만 아니라 가장 강력한 혁명의 수혜를 받았음에도 불구하고 68혁명 의의를 냉정하게 비판해 온 학자가 바로 푸코이기 때문이다. 본 연구의 목적은 68혁명에 대한 양가적 평가를 다루는 것이 아니며 권위에 저항함으로써 미시적 차원의 권력의 작동을 보여주었던 68혁명의 자장아래 푸코의 당시의 경험이 그의 사상과 실존에서 어떻게 체화되고 있는지 검토할 것이다. 이러한 검토를 기반으로 푸코가 68혁명이라는 사건을 신화로 받아들이는 것이 아니라 비판의 태도로 수용함으로써 드러내고자 했던 철학적 실천의 의미를 찾는 일이다. 그리하여 궁극적으로 푸코의 68혁명의 경험을 ‘철학적 실천’으로 재평가함으로써 68혁명의 비판적 계승자로서의 마땅한 자격이 있는 그의 새로운 얼굴을 가리키게 할 것이다.
Abstract
The evaluation of the 68 revolution, which put the emphasis on alienation, difference and autonomy in the foreground, has been continuously reviewed in various interdisciplinary fields, such as politics, economics, history and philosophy for over half a century. And then, the heated debate over the 68 revolution that has been re-ignited by decades of memorial and onslaught has not yet come to an end. Like this ambivalent evaluation of the 68 revolution, the public’s one over French philosopher, Foucault is similar. Despite his absence at the time of the 68 Revolution on the spot, Foucault was the scholar who criticized the significance of 68 revolution in spite of receiving the most powerful benefits over revolution, treating the most 68-revolutionary questions as the main subject of his research. The purpose of this study is not to address a ambivalent evaluation of the 68 revolution, but to review how Foucault’s experiences at that was embedded in his thought and existence under the magnetic field of the 68 revolution, which showed the operation of power at a microscopic level by resisting authority something to do. Based on this review, the study will find the meaning of his philosophical practice that Foucault sought to expose by accepting the 68 Revolution event not as a myth, but as a attitude of criticism. Thus, ultimately, it will reassess Foucault’s experience of the 68 revolution as a ‘philosophy practice’ and point to his new face, which is entitled to a critical successor to the 68 revolution.
