Abstract
The purpose of this study was to develop Maker education program based on SW coding, which had been emphasized as the beginning of the 4th Industrial Revolution. To achieve this goal, the following steps were carried out. First, the maker teaching tools that can be utilized in SW coding based maker education were selected. For this purpose, we developed a selection criterion for evaluating various maker education teaching tools in use in education field as of 2016. Second, pilot training was conducted after developing the program draft. Third, to reflect the implications analyzed by the pilot education implementation, the final SW coding based maker education program was composed of three stages of pre-education, actual education and post-education. Fourth, 125 gifted students belonging to Gyeonggi Provincial Science Education Center were educated based on SW coding. As a result of pre-entrance and post-completion surveys, all of the gifted students who participated in maker education showed improvement in maker competence. In particular, 'refining ideas' and 'suggesting solutions' in terms of 'data collection' and 'data analysis', 'design competence' in terms of 'problem discovery and analysis capability'. This is a statistically significant difference.
