최근 윤리학에서 동기부여에 관한 논의가 활발하게 이뤄지고 있다. 그러나 내재론적 동기부여에 관한 논의의 양상이 내재론과 외재론의 대결 구도에서 접근하는 방식은 내재론적 동기부여 이론이 갖는 강점을 보다 선명하게 드러내지 못하는 것으로 보인다. 본 논의는 내재론적 동기이론의 대표적인 인물 중 한 사람인 윌리엄스의 논의를 따라가면서, 그가 주장하는 건전한 숙고의 과정에 타자와의 관계와 외재적인 요소가 개입될 수 있으며, 이렇게 본다면 윌리엄스의 내재주의가 동기의 집합 내부에서만 이루어지는 닫힌 방식이 아니라, 상당히 적극적이고 역동적인 과정으로 이해할 수 있다는 것을 발견하게 된다. 그렇다면, 내재적 동기부여에 관한 이론의 지류에 사회철학과 심리철학과 연관된 인간 이해와 같은 풍부한 관점들까지도 동기이론에 포섭할 수 있다고 보인다.
Abstract
Recently, There is an animated discussion of motivation in ethics. But if this issue is discussed in the frame of the conflicting aspects between the Internal views versus the External views, then that discussion has moved beyond the limitations of just the understanding of only the Internal view's motivational merits. This discussion is following Williams', who is one of the foremost brilliant scholars and representative of Internal Motivation Theory of the internal view, and his sound deliberative route may have the possibility of intervention in elements of relation with others and external things. In this view, we could find that Williams' view is not a closed system that processes only the inside of motivations, but it is a positive and active process to more widely consider. Then, we could see into the internal view of motivations may subsume abundant aspects that include understanding of more than the individual human, but also the community social and psychological philosophy in motivational theory.
