Abstract
From 1966, the period of the Great Coalition, and 1969, the period of the Little Coalition, to the early 1970s, intra-German trade continued to develop dramatically. Looking at the trade policies and exchanges between the two Germanys during the period of division, it was found that economic exchanges between the two countries took place in the context of a huge trend of détente, which recognized the mutual coexistence of West and East Germany, and that the coalition government with the FDP, which represented the interests of industrial capital, was effective. In addition, the fact that appeasement and political incentives were granted to East Germany in approaching intra-German trade is a very important feature of intra-German trade. In particular, the West German government attempted to block legal approval by offering de facto approval to the East German government, which wanted legal approval. The West German government also emphasized the economic advantages to East Germany in the absence of legal recognition. In particular, the increase in intra-German trade was what the FDP wanted and suited the trend of the times. On the surface, East Germany also tried to block West Germany's capitalist wave with its Abgrenzung policy, but The East German government could never give up the enormous benefits of internal trade, such as tariff benefits similar to those of EEC member states, interest-free swing loans, VE exchange rate benefits, technology transfer, and reduced dependence on the Soviet Union.
