Abstract

In Korean society, where polarization is intensifying, personality education is needed so that others can coexist with each other, not subject to infinite competition. The purpose of this study is to exam in Nadings’ Caring, how to practice humanities education. And Debate classes for community civic education and the implications of the personality curriculum in schools are obtained. This study explores humanities education from Nadings’ perspective that education is life itself, not economic life and preparation as a citizen. It also discusses the relationship between the curriculum of humanities education and life itself. I discuss ‘the necessity of humanities literacy’ and ‘citizen education for its practice’. Furthermore, it discusses career path for leading life and education for creative personality. As a result of, the curriculum to verify the necessity of humanities and its educational effect is as follows. First, controversial classes through Pengsaeng education should be activated in schools. Second, through lifelong humanities education, a leading curriculum through self-understanding should be established along with students’ intellectual growth.
