연구 목적: 이 연구는 생명과학기술시대의 책임담론으로, 아렌트의 정치철학 속에 내재된 과학기술적 관점을 도출하여 시민이 져야 할 정치적 책임과 판단의 의미를 새롭게 모색해 보고자 한다. 연구 방법: 이 연구는 아렌트의 주요 저서 『인간의 조건』, 『책임과 판단』 및 문헌 등을 분석하는 질적연구방법을 사용한다. 연구 내용: 이 논문의 연구내용은 생명과학기술 관련된 문제 사안에 대해서 시민이 져야 할 정치적 책임의 의미와 범위, 그리고 정치판단의 주체로서 시민이 가진 공통감의 타당성이다. 결론 및 제언: 생명과학기술시대에서 정치적 책임의 주체는 시민이며 시민은 공통감에 의존한 정치판단을 내려야 한다. 이에 본 논문은 생명을 다루는 과학기술 문제를 과학자에게만 맡겨서는 안 되며, 시민의 정치판단을 통해서 해결할 때 공동체의 안정성과 세계의 아름다움을 유지할 수 있다고 제언한다.
Abstract
This study, as a responsible discourse in the age of science and technology, seeks to newly explore the meaning of political responsibility and judgment that citizens should bear by deriving the perspective of life science and technology inherent in Arendt’s political philosophy. This study uses a qualitative research method to analyze Arendt’s major books The Human Condition, Responsibility and Judgment and literature. It is the meaning and scope of the political responsibility that citizens have to take on issues related to life science and technology, and the validity of the common sense that citizens have as the subject of political judgment. In the age of life science and technology, the subject of political responsibility is the citizen, and the citizen must make political judgments based on common sense. Therefore, this thesis proposes that the science and technology problems dealing with life should not be left only to scientists, and that the stability of the community and the beauty of the world can be maintained when solved through citizens’ political judgment.
