본고에서는 소동파의 시 텍스트를 이미지로 표현한 동파 시의도에 대해 알아보았다. 석도의 시의도는 감상자가 시의 서정성을 그림을 통해 느끼게 하는 데 중점을 두었다고 할 수 있다. 전통적으로 시의도와 같은 작품은 감정과 자연의 상호작용을 표현하며, 여백의 미와 추상성을 중시했다. 이러한 미학적 요소는 동양 회화에서 중요한 위치를 차지한다. 그러나 AI는 인간의 미학적 판단을 모방하려고 하지만, 창작자의 감정을 담은 직관적인 미학적 결정을 내리지는 못한다. 대신 AI는 시각적 패턴이나 시각적 조화에 대한 통계적 판단에 의존하여 이미지를 생성하므로, 감정적인 깊이가 상대적으로 부족할 수 있다. 아울러 석도의 시의도는 예술가가 직접 시를 읽고 감상한 후 이를 해석하여 자신만의 방식으로 재구성한 작품이다. 이 과정은 예술가의 창조성과 주체성이 본질적으로 내포되어 있다. 반면, AI의 시의도는 인간 창작자가 아닌 알고리즘에 의해 만들어지므로, 예술의 정의와 창작의 주체성에 대한 철학적 질문을 제기할 수 있다. AI가 그린 이미지를 예술로 간주할 수 있는가, 그리고 이러한 작품이 어떤 가치를 가지는가에 대한 논의가 이루어질 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
This paper examines Dongpo poetry paintings, which express the poetic texts of Su Dongpo as images. Shitao's poetry paintings focus on allowing viewers to feel the lyricism of poetry through visual art. Traditionally, works like poetry paintings emphasize the interaction between emotions and nature while valuing the aesthetics of emptiness and abstraction, which hold a significant position in Eastern painting. However, while AI attempts to imitate human aesthetic judgment, it cannot make intuitive and emotional aesthetic decisions imbued with the creator's feelings. Instead, AI relies on statistical assessments of visual patterns and harmony to generate images, which may lack emotional depth. Furthermore, Shitao's poetry paintings are works that the artist reconstructed in their own way after directly reading and appreciating the poetry. This process inherently involves the creativity and subjectivity of the artist. In contrast, AI-generated poetry paintings are created by algorithms, not human creators, raising philosophical questions about the definition of art and the subjectivity of creation. Discussions may arise about whether images created by AI can be considered art and what value such works hold.
