중국의 대만 도서지역 포격사건에 대한 미국의 억제전략 분석

본고의 목적은 2010년 북한의 연평도 포격사건과 같은 북한의 국지도발 행위가 다시 발생할 경우 효과적인 한국의 대응방안을 모색하려는 문제의식에서 대만해협 위기시 중국의 공격적 성향을 억제시켰던 결정적 요인을 분석하였다. 본고는 중국의 대만포격 사건의 3차례 위기상황에서 중국의 무력행위를 억제하였던 원인을 단호하고 즉각적인 군사적 균형 전략, 억제국의 협상수용적 태도라는확장-긴급억제의 성공 조건에 근거하여 중국의 대만포격에 대한 미국의 대응을 분석하였다.
Abstract
This article is aimed to analyze the crucial factors of U.S.’s successful deterrence strategy against PRC’s bombardment incident of Taiwan island and to deduce the implication related to North Korea’s bombardment behavior toward ROK, such as bombardment incident on Yeonpyeong island. And also, this article analyzed U.S.’s Deterrence Strategy against PRC’s bombardment incident of Taiwan island during the past experience of three taiwan crisis based on success conditions of extended immediate deterrence, composed of immediate military balance and bargaining behavior of the defender.
