대학을 둘러싼 환경이 급변하는 오늘날 대학은 그 역할의 변화를 요구받고 있다. 특히, 경찰학 전공교육은 학문탐구와 직업훈련, 그리고 경찰조직혁신 등 여러 분야에서 그 역할이 기대되고 있다. 한편, 전공자의 경우 전공교육 이수를 통한 성공적인 경찰입직을 희망하는데, 현실은 녹록치 않은 상황이다. 대학의 전공교육과 경찰채용시험제도 사이의 괴리로 많은 학생들이 학습에 갈등을 경험하고 있다. 이에 이 연구는 경찰학 전공자가 인식하는 대학교육과 경찰채용시험제도를 살펴보고, 바람직한 개선방안을 도출하고자 하였다. 전국의 4년제 대학 경찰학 전공자 861명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시한 결과 다음과 같은 결과를 도출할 수 있었다. ① 경찰학전공 선택동기는 경찰입직이라는 점에서 대학교육의 대응이 요청된다. ② 전공교과와 채용시험의 괴리 해결을 위해 채용시험 과목의 변경이 필요하다. ③ 대학교육의 질 제고를 위해 실습과목 개발과 전공교과 교수법 개발이 요구된다. ④ 채용필기시험 과목에서 실무와 무관한 선택과목의 배제가 필요하다. ⑤ 전공교육의 내실화를 위해 졸업인증제도 내지 표준교과과정 도입이 필요하다. 경찰학의 실천적․응용적 학문성격상 일선경찰의 전공교육에 대한 기대를 반영할 필요가 있다. 특히, 전공교육의 직접 수혜자이자 경찰의 잠재적 인적자원인 경찰학 전공자의 욕구가 반영된 대학교육과 경찰채용제도의 개선이 요청된다.
Abstract
The university's role in the upheaval has also reached a period of change. Police science major education is demanded various roles such as academic inquiry, job training, and police organization innovation. Particularly, in the case of college students, efficient police entry through university education. However, reality is not so. Many students are experiencing conflicts in learning because of the gap between college education and the police recruitment test system. Therefore, this study examined the university education and police recruitment test system recognized by the police science major students and tried to derive a desirable improvement plan. The results of the questionnaire survey of 861 college students of four - year universities in Korea were as follows. ① Considering the motivation for choosing a majors in police studies, changes in university education are required. ② To solve the inconsistency problem with the major subject, it is necessary to change the police employment examination subject. ③ The quality of the lecture and the content of the lecture are taken into consideration at the time of enrollment, so diversity of practical courses and major courses is required. ④ It is necessary to exclude electives that are not related to the major in the written examination. ⑤ Graduation certification system and standard curriculum should be introduced in order to improve the major education. Police major education should be improved to practical and applied nature. In particular, it is required to improve the university education and police recruitment system that reflects the desire of college students who are direct beneficiaries of major education and potential police human resources.
