경찰관련 교과목의 실무연계성 강화 연구 : 4년제 대학 경찰행정학과를 중심으로

Abstract

As a majority of students in the department of police administration desire to be engaged in police jobs, it is necessary to connect the subjects and lecture details with the police practices in order to increase motivation for employment and academic atmosphere. The aim of this study is to suggest the proper curriculum and practice level education of police affairs to students majoring in police studies while attending the department of police administration of a four-year-course university by analyzing the curriculum of the department of police administration of Korea and the department of criminal justice in the USA. As a result of the analysis, while there was similar proportion of subjects of law in the department of criminal justice in the US compared with that in Korea, there were less subjects in public administration, but relatively more subjects in other areas such as sociology, politics and psychology due to the emphasis of interdisciplinary academic exchange. Accordingly, it is recommended to reinforce experiment and internship focused subjects in the department of police administration of Korea such as forensic science, internships in criminal justice and seminars on police problems.
