문집 부록附錄에 수록된 일기의 양상과 의의 - 호남문집을 대상으로

본 논문에서는 호남문집을 대상으로 하여, 문집 부록에 수록된 일기의 양상과 의의를 살펴보았다. 호남문집 소재 일기를 조사한 결과 부록에 실린 일기는 24종을 확인하였다. 24종의 부록에 수록된 일기를 살펴본 결과 문집 부록의 일기 수록 양상은 크게 세 가지로 나눌 수가 있었다. 첫째는 타인의 일기 내에서 저자가 등장한 부분을 발췌하여 수록한 것으로 가장 많은 11종의 일기가 해당되었다. 둘째는 다른 사람의 일기가 짧은 경우 저자가 등장한 타인 일기 전체를 수록한 것으로 6종의 일기가 해당되었다. 셋째는 저자의 행적을 후손이나 후학들이 일기 형식을 빌려 정리 후 수록한 것으로 3종의 일기가 해당되었다. 이 세 양상에 포함되지 않는 일기도 4종 확인할 수 있었다. 문집 부록에 수록된 일기는 적은 수량이지만 저자와의 관련성 속에서 타인의 일기를 수록하여 특별함을 갖는다. 그 의의로는 첫째, 저자의 행적을 알 수 있는 자료로 활용되어 다른 부록에 수록된 전기자료의 부족한 점을 보완해 준다는 점, 둘째, 저자에 대한 평가에 객관성을 부여한다는 점, 셋째, 일기의 활용 가치를 보여준다는 점 등 세 가지를 들 수 있었다.
Abstract
This paper examines the Literary Collection of Honam to explore the pattern and implication of the diaries listed in its attachment. 24 types of diaries were confirmed in the attachment of Literary Collection of Honam. The examination of the 24 diaries led to the listed diaries being classified into three categories. The first category consisted of eleven diaries which were an extraction from others' diaries where the author appeared. The second category consisted of six diaries which listed the entirety of others’ diaries where the author appeared but others’ stories were short. The third category consisted of three diaries where the descendants or students of the author recorded the author’s activities and achievements in the style of diary. Four diaries did not belong to any of these three categories. A small number of diaries are listed in the attachment of the literary collection, but they list others’ diaries in relation with the author, giving them a special implication. The first implication is that the records give a knowledge of the author's activities and achievements, making up for the lack of his biological data listed in other attachments. The second implication is that the records give objectivity to the evaluation of the author. The third implication is how diaries are worth utilizing.
