말(馬)을 매개로 한 심리치료 프로그램이 지역아동센터 청소년들에게 미치는 심리적 효과

초록

최근 해외에서는 아동·청소년을 대상으로 말(馬)을 매개로 한 심리치료(EAP/EFP)에 대한 효과 검증과 프로그램 개발, 표준화를 위한 연구가 증가하고 있다. 본 연구는 말(馬)을 매개로 한 심리치료(EAP/EFP) 프로그램을 이용하여 지역아동센터 청소년들의 자아존중감, 자기효능감, 학교생활적응 그리고 문제행동에 미치는 치료적 효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 지역아동센터에서 28명의 청소년을 모집하여 참여의사를 밝힌 14명을 실험집단에 나머지 14명을 대기 통제집단에 배정하였다. 프로그램은 8주동안 매주 1-2회, 총 12회가 실시되었다. 참가자들은 자아존중감, 자기효능감, 학교생활적응 척도를 프로그램 전, 후 그리고 4주후 실시하였다. 또한 프로그램 참가자들이 속해있는 지역아동센터의 담당선생님을 통해 한국판 아동청소년 행동평가척도 교사용(TRF)을 동일한 시기에 사전, 사후, 추후검사를 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 말(馬)을 매개로 한 심리치료(EAP/EFP) 프로그램 참가집단이 통제집단에 비하여 자아존중감, 자기효능감 그리고 학교생활적응력이 유의미하게 증가하였고, 한국판 아동청소년 행동평가척도 교사용(TRF)에서 대부분의 문제행동 하위척도가 유의미하게 감소하였음을 확인하였다. 본 연구의 의의는 말(馬)을 매개로 한 심리치료(EAP/EFP) 프로그램의 치료적 효과를 검증하여 아동·청소년을 위한 대안적인 치료 접근법으로써 제안하고자 하는데 있다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the psychological effects of the ㄷquine Assisted Psychotherapy/Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EAP/EFP) program on self-esteem, self-efficacy and adjustment to school life for children and adolescents in a community child care center. 28 participants were assigned to the EAP/EFP program group (n=14) and the wait-list control group (n=14). The EAP/EFP program was administered a total of 12 sessions over an 8-week period. Results showed that in comparison to the wait-list control group, participants of the EAP/EFP program showed a significant increase in self-esteem, self-efficacy and adjustment in school life as well as a significant decrease in majority of the sub scales of child behavior checklist for teachers. This study demonstrates the significant impact of the EAT/EFP program on treatment and proposes it as an alternative treatment approach for children and adolescents.
