동물매개치료는 인간의 정서적, 사회적, 인지적 기능을 개선시키는 심리치료의 한 부분으로 살아있는 동물을 매개물로 이용한다. 동물매개치료에서 치료를 촉진하는 역할을 하는 동물은 말, 개, 고양이, 햄스터 등과 같이 다양하지만, 말과 개가 동물매개치료에 가장 적절한 동물이다. 국내에서 말울 이용한 심리치료적 접근을 수행한 연구가 드물기 때문에, 본 연구에서는 말을 이용한 심리치료의 장점을 살펴보고, EFP(Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy) 프로그램에 이용되는 치료 활동에 대해서 살펴보고자 하였다. 연구 내용은 EFP에서 말(馬)과 함께 하는 작업을 통한 상담 과정에 대해서 살펴보고, 각 회기 내에서 이루어지는 심리역동적 치료 활동에 대해서 살펴보았다. 회기 내에서 이루어지는 치료 활동은 말과의 실재적 경험, 말과의 관계형성을 통한 특.별한 경험, 치료자와 내담자의 치료적 관계형성, 말과의 의사소통을 위한 관계에서 비언어적 경험, 전언어적/말초적 경험, 은유의 치료적 이용 등으로 내담자의 행동 변화와 통찰에 어떻게 작용하는지 살펴보았다. 본 연구는 말(馬)의 심리치료적 접근을 위한 문헌 고찰로 향후 말(馬)을 이용한 심리치료 치료지침을 세우고 프로그램 개발을 하는데 기여할 것이다.
Abstract
The therapy through the animal medium uses live animals as a part of psychological treatment to improve emotional, social and cognitive function of human. There are various animals available such as horses, dos, cats and hamsters to prompt the effect of this treatment, but horses and dogs are the most appropriate. As we can rarely find the studies that have performed the psychotherapy by using horses, I'd like to survey the benefit of the psychotherapy through horses and the therapeutic activities by EFP(Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy) program. In this study, we observed the counseling process that have cooperated with horses, and dynamic psychotherapy in each session. Psychotherapy in a session has made observation-The existential experience, The unique experience of being in relationship with the horse, The client’s therapeutic relationship with the clinician, Preverbal/primitive experiences and preoedipal focus, Therapeutic use of metaphor and work at the oedipal level, Nonverbal experience in relation to communication with the horse-of how to result in the change of activities and the insight on the clients.
