Abstract
This study was conducted by applying a Q-methodology, to identify the perspectives of compassion fatigue among emergency nurses. A sample of 39 participants was recruited to participate in the study and classified 36 selected Q-samples into a nine-point normal distribution grid. Analysis for collected data were used a PC-QUANL program. The findings of this study were as follows. The three types account for 50.2% of the total variance: 38.0%, 6.9%, and 5.2%, respectively. Type 1 was ‘system-based solving’, type 2 was ‘positive energy’, and type 3 was ‘self-controller’. These findings will be able to provide basic data to establish strategies for coping with the compassion fatigue of emergency nurses of each type. It can in turn contribute to developing policies which form a positive nursing organization culture and serves for human resources management enhancing the job satisfaction and accomplishment in the nursing profession.
