‘좋은 교육’의 준거에 관한 철학적 고찰

이 논문의 목적은 ‘좋은 교육’이란 무엇인가에 대한 세부적이고 구체적인 논의를 위한 일반적이고 공통된 준거가 무엇인가에 대하여 고찰해 보는데 있다. 여기서 ‘좋은 교육’이란 상대적으로 문제가 적은, 교육 구성원들이 만족할 만한, 교육 본연의 기능을 정상적으로 수행할 수 있는 제대로 된 교육을 의미한다. 이러한 좋은 교육을 구성하는 요소 혹은 내용은 ‘교육’이라는 활동을 구성하는 요소들 즉, 교사, 학생, 학교, 교재 등과 이를 직접ㆍ간접으로 지원하는 인적ㆍ물적ㆍ환경적 요소를 모두 포함한다. 종합적 활동으로서의 교육 혹은 각각의 구성요소에 공통적으로 적용되는 좋은 교육의 본질적인 준거가 무엇인가를 고찰해 보았다. 결론으로, ‘좋은 교육’이 되기 위하여 반드시 고려해야 할 다음 사항들을 ‘좋은 교육’의 준거로 제시해 보았다. 즉, ①학습자인 학생에게 좋은 교육이어야 하며, ②교육 목적 혹은 목표에 충실해야 하며, ③자율적 인간을 기르는 교육이어야 하며, ④지식교육과 인성교육이 조화를 이루어야 하며, ⑤자긍심을 기르는 교육이어야 하며, ⑥정직한 인간으로 기르는 교육이어야 하며, ⑦인류 차원의 윤리의식을 기르는 교육이어야 하며, ⑧그 밖에 경쟁보다는 협동을 통하여 공동체의식을 기르는 교육이어야 한다는 점을 제시했다.
Abstract
There are many problems in the Korean school education. Those are named as "school destruction" "classroom breaking down" "education standing on the cliff" "education out of orbit" etc. But there have been no discussions on the standards of normal or good education. So the purpose of this study is to research the meaning and standards of 'good eduction' The meaning of 'good' is very diverse and multiple. But the meaning of the 'good' in this paper is used as 'normal' or 'not being out of orbit' or 'on problems', because the word 'good' modifies the normal education that has little problems. The result of this study suggested following standards of good education that every educator has to consider in the classroom ; 1. For whom is the education good? It means that teacher has to consider students first. 2. For what is it good? It means that all schooling activities are fit or suitable for the aims or objectives of education. 3. What kind of person dose the education bring up ? He or her has to be educated to be a free person who has self control abilities and responsibilities. 4. Is the education in harmony between knowledge education and character education? Good education must harmonize knowing with living. That is, knowledge education has to be integrated and combined with character education. 5. Is the education available for the student to give him pride or sense of inferiority ? 6. Is the education good for the student to be an honest person? 7. Is the education available for the student to learn global ethics? 8. Is the education good for community life? etc.
