탈진실 시대, ‘개방적 허구’의 교육 가치 탐구: 하루키의 소설론을 중심으로

본 연구는 우리가 마주하고 있는 탈진실 현상의 기제를 분석하고, 그것을 극복하기 위한 방안으로서 문학이라는 ‘개방적 허구’의 교육적 가치를 탐구한 글이다. 연구자는 우리 사회에서 작동하고 있는 탈진실 현상 속에 대립적이며 폐쇄적인 이데올로기 충돌 양상이 숨겨져 있음을 분석하였으며, 이 과정에서 소통적 요소를 소거한 ‘폐쇄적 허구’가 탄생함을 제시하였다. 나아가 절대성과 대립성에 기반한 ‘폐쇄적 허구’에 대응하는 기제로서 상대성과 소통성에 기반한 ‘개방적 허구’ 대해서 논하였다. 연구자는 하루키의 소설론에 기반하여 폐쇄적 허구를 극복할 수 있는 힘으로서 진실을 직접 가르치는 것이 아니라 문학이라는 개방적 허구를 통해서 기만적 허구에 대한 면역성을 길러주는 것의 중요성을 주장하였다. 하루키의 소설론은 폐쇄적 시스템의 억압에 대항하는 영혼의 힘을 길러주는 기제의 성격이 강하며, 허구의 구체적 역할로서 판단보류의 힘, 계속성의 기제, 즉시적 효과 없음의 긍정이라는 특징을 분석하였다. 이를 바탕으로 탈진실 시대에 우리는 문학적 허구를 통하여 (ⅰ) 넘겨받음의 태도, (ⅱ) 삶의 계속성을 추구하는 태도, (ⅲ) 통합적 삶의 태도를 가르쳐야 함을 주장하였다.
Abstract
This study analyzes the mechanism of the post-truth phenomenon we are facing and explores the educational value of 'open fiction' called literature as a way to overcome it. I analyzed that confrontational and closed aspects of ideological conflict are hidden in the post-truth phenomenon operating in our society, and suggested that in this process, 'closed fiction' with communicative elements eliminated was born. Furthermore, as a mechanism to respond to 'closed fiction' based on absoluteness and opposition, 'open fiction' based on relativity and communication was discussed. Based on Haruki's novel theory, the researcher insisted on the importance of cultivating immunity to deceptive fiction through open fiction of literature rather than directly teaching the truth as a power to overcome closed fiction. Haruki's novel theory has a strong character of a mechanism that fosters the strength of the soul against the suppression of a closed system, and analyzes the characteristics of the power of deferring judgment, the mechanism of continuity, and the affirmation of no immediate effect as specific roles of fiction. Based on this, it was argued that in the post-truth era, we should teach (i) the attitude of taking over, (ii) the attitude of pursuing continuity of life, and (iii) the attitude of integrated life through literary fiction.
