Abstract

This article noted that the expression of critical hate emotions for the original hate emotions represented by the character of the novel can be a way to practice a good social and cultural life as a condition of humanity. This is because critical hate emotions for the characters in the novel are related to reflecting on the conditions of humanity and the practice of good life by making value judgments on the original hate object. From this point of view, this article discussed the contents of novel teaching for understanding the characters of the novel, which focuses on critical hate emotions, and for the practice of good life. These discussions were conducted by exploring the causes of hate emotions, critical hate emotions, understanding the characters of novels focused on critical hate emotions, and the contents of novel teaching for good life practice focused on critical hate emotions. As a result of the discussion, the content of novel teaching was presented from the perspective that critical hate feelings for animal unethicalness revealed by characters with original hate feelings are conditions for promoting humanity, and social solidarity and good life practice are needed to enhance critical hate emotions by ethical attitudes.
