이 연구의 목적은 유아동 교육용 어휘 목록을 구축하고 어휘 등급을 개발하는 것이다. 이를 위해 교육용 어휘의 개념과 특징을 구체화하고, 교육용 어휘의 유형을 일상 어휘, 교과 학습 어휘, 학습 도구 어휘로 분류하여 교육용 어휘의 성격을 명료화하였다. 이러한 개념적 토대를 바탕으로, 유아동 교육용 자료(교과서 및 도서) 말뭉치와 기존 교육용 어휘 목록을 활용하여 교육용 어휘 목록을 개발하였다. 구체적으로는 유아동 교육용 어휘 30,390개를 선정하고 이를 7개 학년(유아, 초등 1학년-6학년), 5개 교과군(국어, 수학, 사회, 과학, 안전 및 통합), 그리고 3가지 교육용 어휘 유형에 따라 분류 및 체계화하였다. 이 연구에서는 3만여 개에 이르는 교육용 어휘 목록을 구축했다는 점, 학년별 어휘 등급을 제시했다는 점, 그리고 ‘교육용 어휘’로서의 성격을 고려하여 3가지 어휘 유형에 따라 어휘를 선별 및 목록화·체계화하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 특히, 어휘 유형 및 교과군에 대한 정보를 제공한다는 점에서, 학생들의 어휘력 신장을 비롯하여 교육 현장의 다양한 요구를 충족하는 데 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to develop an educational vocabulary list and establish vocabulary levels tailored for young children(infants and elementary school students). To achieve this, the study first clarifies the concept and characteristics of educational vocabulary, categorizing it into three types: everyday vocabulary, subject-specific vocabulary, and cross-curricular vocabulary. Specifically, 30,390 educational vocabulary items were selected and systematically organized by seven educational levels (kindergarten and grades 1–6), five subject areas (Korean, mathematics, social studies, science, and safety/integrated studies), and three vocabulary types. The significance of this study lies in the construction of an extensive vocabulary list comprising over 30,000 items, the presentation of vocabulary list by grade, and the classification and organization of vocabulary according to its role as ‘educational vocabulary.’
