Abstract
This study aims to examine the developmental aspects of writing by presenting writing assignments and rewriting assignments to 2nd, 4th, and 6th graders and analyzing the results. The characteristics of the planning and revision processes of each grade were discovered by comparing the first and final drafts by distinguishing the expression and rewriting processes. The number of sentences in the first draft increased as the grade level increased, but when comparing before and after rewriting, the number of sentences significantly decreased in the 6th grade, showing a prominent tendency to delete content deemed unnecessary. The proportion of texts with a list structure was high in the 2nd grade. The proportion of texts written as one paragraph was the highest in the first draft in the 2nd grade and in the final draft in the 4th grade, and the 6th grade had the most cases of texts organized with appropriate paragraph divisions. The developmental aspects of writing ability in elementary school students are as follows. First, only in the 2nd grade were cases where the first draft was not completed due to lack of time, indicating that transcription automation is achieved at the developmental level of the 1st and 2nd grades. Second, it is confirmed that as grades increase, the number of sentences in the first draft increases, which tends to create more content on a single topic. Third, the ability to create content while considering text structure is confirmed in the 6th grade.
