부산전쟁기념관이 국가위상 제고에 미치는 영향

본 연구는 부산전쟁기념관 건립이 기존의 유엔기념공원과 상승효과를 가짐으로써 한국의 국가위상을 제고할 뿐 아니라, 부산이 자유와 평화라는 보편적인 가치수호의 성지로서 자리매김 할 수 있음을 고찰한다. 대륙세력과 해양세력이 충돌하는 한보도의 지정학적인 특성을 부산이라는 도시는 함축적으로 갖는다. 한반도가 대륙과 해양이 교통하는 대로라면 부산은 그 한반도의 관문의 특성을 갖기 때문이다. 6.25전쟁 중에는 최후의 교두보로서 대한민국을 수호하는 역할을 했으며, 전후 경제건설 시기에는 산업발전과 대외무역에 필요한 재화와 용역의 주요 통로역할을 성공적으로 수행해 왔다. 부산은 6.25전쟁의 자유와 평화수호의 유산과 역사가 잘 보존되어 있으며, 유엔기념공원에 안장된 참전용사들을 통해서 지속적으로 국제사회의 이목이 집중되는 환경과 특징을 가지고 있다. 따라서 세계 유일의 유엔군 묘지인 유엔기념공원을 가지고 있는 부산이 6.25전쟁기념관을 갖게 된다면, 자유와 평화 수호의 성지로서 부산시가 자리매김하는데 크게 기여할 것이다.
Abstract
This study considers that launching the Korean War Memorial in Busan not only enhances Korean national prestige status, but also facilitates Busan to be sacred city of freedom and liberty, by a synergy with the existing UNMCK (United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Korea). The city of Busan implies geopolitical characteristics in the Korean Peninsula on which the Land and Sea Powers conflict. The city of Busan successfully executed the mission of the last bridgehead to defend the Republic of Korea during the Korean War. After the war, it had been a major trading port for goods and services and economic development. It still preserves the Korean War legacy and history in the city, Busan, and international citizens still maintain continuing concerns regarding the UNMCK. Thus, launching of the Korean War Memorial in Busan would be a catalyst and a good chance for Busan to be a sacred city and icon of freedom and liberty which are universal values of human civilization.
